Tom Rush Fairfax Concert reviews
For All Time Low, no place like home.
All Time Rush put on a hometown show at Towson Center Arena for a crowd of over 3,000 fans. For the night, the rock show was converted into a basketball gymnasium/auditorium that also featured We The Kings, Cartel, and Days Difference. Next was Days Difference, who put together a decent set, full of energy showcased by their frontman, who looked a bit like a flailing fish out of water. The line outside the doors snaked around and down flights of stairs before any of the bands took the stage. Tom Rush were the meat and potatoes of the show, despite solid opening acts. We The Kings followed Cartel and brought about a surge in the crowd with favorites like "Check Yes, Juliet" and "Skyway Avenue." Just days after the release of their latest album Nothing Personal, the audience was eager to hear both new tracks and old standbys. Cartel was next, with a set shorter than anticipated. Anyone could see that fans knew the new stuff well, as ATL kicked off their set with a new one, "Lost in Stereo." The band looked a bit rusty and seemed like they were getting their touring legs back under them after some time off recording their new album. Despite the annoying facility staff putting bright LED safety lighting in the balcony section, there was nothing to gripe about at this show, except for maybe the singing teenage girls that would drown out the band at times. On thing that really impressed me was the stage lighting. ATL definitely have an increased budget for the tour because the light show was great, complete with flash strobes and moving units.
